Subject: Public Notice of Law Enforcement Activity on 12/06/23

Yesterday, December 6, 2023, you may have heard a loud boom or reverberation and may have felt a jolt or powerful vibration around 12:45pm. 
The Dillingham Police Department worked with the FBI to destroy items and explosives that were collected in regular routine Police Activity. These items were too dangerous to transport out of Dillingham so were eliminated by way of destruction by explosion at the Dillingham Landfill. This destruction of items was completed by trained FBI personal whose only function while in Dillingham was for this purpose. 
No Public Notice was distributed prior to the destruction of items to prevent gathering in the area and to keep the safety of the Community Members as a top priority. The Landfill area and roads were blocked, and an ambulance staffed with trained personnel was on hand during this activity. 
Thank you for your understanding for the delayed Public Notice as safety was the main concern with this required action.
