The State of Alaska adopted new minor offense rules that went into effect April 15, 2013. One of the myriad of issues required that a municipality establish a fine schedule for offenses.
The City identified all the fines in the Dillingham Municipal Code and incorporated them in a table, added the table to Chapter 1.20, Violations and penalties, and assigned a fine of $75 or $300 based on the severity of the offense as a safety or health risk.
- The fine schedule does not have any new fines.
- The fines are no longer defined as "no more than $300", of which the actual fine was decided by the Court.
- It removes any gradient scales; such as $75 for the first offense, $100 for the second offense, and so on.
- All fines will be processed through the Court system.
- The State requires a $10 surcharge be added to each offense.
- If someone is cited, the person has the option of paying the fine to the Court or requesting a trial if not in agreement.
- The offenses listed in the table are abbreviated. To find out more information about an offense, go to the Dillingham Municipal Code.
